The Pi Kappa Alpha Huntsville Area Alumni Association along with UAHuntsville Office of Advancement, Alumni, and Athletics will be holding a 5K run to endow a scholarship in memorial of Earl C. Jacoby.
Earl C. Jacoby was the first Chapter Advisor to Theta Pi. If not for Earl’s hard work and dedication, there might not be a Theta Pi Chapter today. His continual leadership shaped what we each inherited. When Earl passed, his daughter and iformed some alumnus the one thing Earl was always grateful for was Pi Kappa Alpha. He loved the Fraternity as it should be loved and his enthusiasm shows still today. Earl was not only loved as a Fraternity member and leader, but also as a member of the UAHuntsville community. Earl was associated with the Athletics department and also served as a volunteer tour guide for the University Fitness Center. One memory of Earl that sticks out in everyone’s mind was his daily run around the “loop” of the UAHuntsville campus.
For all that Earl did for Theta Pi and the UAHuntsville community, the Huntsville Area Alumni Association has chosen to endow a scholarship in his name. The Earl C. Jacoby Memorial Scholarship will benefit an active Theta Pi Chapter member with tuition assistance. Endowing this scholarship is not complete at this time and our goal is to fully endow the scholarship in 2010. Donations to this endowment will not only greatly assist Theta Pi Chapter, but will also allow us to honor Earl C. Jacoby for his accomplishments as a Scholar, Leader, Athlete, and Gentleman.
We are hosting a 5K run on May 22, 2010 as a fundraiser to endow this scholarship. Your donation is vital to accomplishing this. Please remember that your gift will contribute to a reoccuring scholarship. YOU can help create a legacy! YOU will create something that will give back by helping to educate new members and continue to improve our brotherhood. We will need your help as we can only make this happen from our strengh of numbers: only our brotherhood can make this happen.
